Culinary Highlights in the Isarco Valley

The Isarco Valley is the most northern winegrowing region in Italy, but it is not only famous for its selected wines but also for its typical cuisine. There are plenty of occasions to taste the highlights of this cuisine, such as the “yoghurt days” in Vipiteno (Sterzing), the “lantern evenings” in summer, the “Ködel”-party and the “red-carpet”-party in the late summer or the famous chestnut-weeks in autumns. Enjoy the typical South Tyrolean specialties, such as Schlutzkrapfen, Krautblattler, Ködel or Tirtlan.

Arts and culture in the Isarco Valley

Close to our Hotel Ratschingserhof you find many cultural treasures: the castel “Wolfsthurn” in Mareit, the museum for hunting and fishery, the mining-museum “Schneeberg” in Ridanna the castles “Reisenstein” and “Sprechenstein” near Vipiteno, richly baroque churches. Also the wild and romantic gorge “Gilfenklamm” is situated next to our Hotel Ratschingserhof in Stange in the Ridnaun Valley, municipality of Ratschings in the Isarco Valley in South Tyrol, Italy.
